To the commander of any French ship on the coast of Mexec. Acapulco

The enclosed is a list of French and British treasure pirated from the wreck of the steam ship “Golden Gate” wrecked in the neighborhood of “Manzanillo” July 29th 1862 and stolen from said wreck in Dec. 1863 by one Smiley & others acting under him.

Smiley is under arrest by warrant of the Admiralty Court of these states but refused to give any account of the treasure he recovered.
